THE CASE FOR THIS PLACE
A low-slung sandstone estate organized around shade, water and a sequence of private courts.
A home read through time, climate and daily ritual.
The residence
Saffron Courtyard is conceived as an inhabited landscape rather than a single object. Sandstone walls trace a sequence of shaded rooms, gardens and water courts that gradually reveal the scale of the estate while remaining low against the desert basin.
The main residence is arranged around a long reflecting pool. Deep colonnades filter midday light, and carved screens create privacy without interrupting air movement. Interiors combine lime plaster, date-palm timber, travertine and hand-finished bronze.
Six suites open to individual courtyards, with the principal rooms occupying a quieter garden beyond the library. A separate guest pavilion includes two salons and its own dining terrace, allowing extended stays to feel independent.
Water is treated as a measured resource: greywater irrigates the native planting, roofs collect seasonal rain, and the landscape favors local species. Discreet back-of-house circulation supports events without crossing the private rooms.
