THE CASE FOR THIS PLACE
A prismatic ocean pavilion of dark masonry and glass, positioned between fynbos and open Atlantic.
A home read through time, climate and daily ritual.
The residence
Cape Prism House is set within a private field of coastal fynbos, with dark masonry walls opening in precise cuts toward the Atlantic. The composition protects the house from prevailing wind while allowing the horizon to pass through the main living rooms.
The ocean salon, dining pavilion and library are connected by glazed bridges around a protected courtyard. Inside, charcoal stone, pale ash and burnished metal reflect the mineral colors of the peninsula without competing with the landscape.
Five suites are positioned as separate pavilions. The principal suite faces west through a deep loggia and includes a private study, stone bathing room and secluded outdoor shower court.
A lower level contains the cellar, gym, screening room and secure service facilities. The grounds include a restored indigenous garden and a cliff-path pavilion for sunset dining, set well back from sensitive habitat.
